About Our Association

The surgical and medical treatment of Movement Disorders (such as Parkinson's Disease, Tremor, Dystonia, etc.) in Turkey began in the 1960s at pioneering and foundational university clinics. Over the subsequent 60 years, there have been significant advancements in this field within our country. Today, Turkey has become one of the leading countries in the world for the treatment of Movement Disorders and Deep Brain Stimulation (Brain Pacemaker). In recent years, some centers in Turkey have performed over 1,000 Movement Disorders Surgeries and DBS cases, gaining global recognition and experience. This immense potential has necessitated the formation of a new organization bringing together Neurosurgeons and Neurologists dedicated to the treatment of Movement Disorders.

“The "Deep Brain Stimulation and Movement Disorders Association" was established for this purpose, with the participation of Neurosurgeons and Neurologists specialized in this field in Turkey. As stated in its bylaws, only Neurosurgery and Neurology specialists with high-level experience and academic work in this area can become members. The association's objectives include providing education in the field of Deep Brain Stimulation and Movement Disorders; supporting scientific training programs; organizing congresses and courses; accrediting meetings held in this field; evaluating educational programs; offering technical consultation services; and addressing administrative issues in related treatment services.

We believe that our "Deep Brain Stimulation and Movement Disorders Association" will be beneficial in addressing deficiencies and problems in this field and will contribute to advancing related healthcare services to a higher level.

On behalf of the Board of Directors,
